MANILA, Philippines — VP Sara Duterte fake receipts scandal continues to unfold as the vice president faces mounting pressure to explain questionable names linked to allegedly fake receipts from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) under her leadership.
A list of odor-themed aliases, now called “Team Amoy Asim,” has sparked public outrage. This controversy adds to a series of financial anomalies tied to Duterte’s P612.5 million in confidential funds.

House Deputy Majority Leader Paolo Ortega recently exposed suspicious names allegedly used in government transactions. The House of Representatives is reviewing the evidence as it prepares for Duterte’s impeachment trial in the Senate.
The newly flagged names—“Amoy Liu,” “Fernan Amuy,” and “Joug De Asim”—do not appear in Philippine Statistics Authority records. Ortega said a Commission on Audit (COA) report identified these aliases in financial documents from the OVP and DepEd.
“Una, may chichirya, may cellphone, at may prutas. Sumunod ang ‘Dodong Gang.’ Ngayon naman, nandito na ang ‘Team Amoy Asim.’ Kung sa listahan pa lang ay maasim na ang dating ng pekeng mga pangalan, paano pa kaya sa mga transaksyon mismo?” Ortega said, emphasizing the absurdity of the revelations.
Malacañang: VP Sara Duterte Must Address Allegations
As public scrutiny grows, Malacañang has urged Duterte to respond. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stressed the need for transparency, saying, “VP Sara must explain these findings and address growing concerns.”
Duterte has not yet issued a formal statement. However, she has previously denied wrongdoing, dismissing the allegations as politically motivated.
A Growing Web of Corruption Allegations
VP Sara Duterte, this is not the first time faced financial irregularities. Before ‘Team Amoy Asim,’ earlier scandals involved alleged fraudulent transactions related to snacks, mobile phones, and fruits.
The House impeached Duterte over these allegations. The Senate is now preparing for a high-stakes trial that could lead to either her acquittal or conviction.
Adding to the controversy, VP Duterte is currently in The Hague with her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte. The elder Duterte has been arrested and detained by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity related to his administration’s war on drugs.
