JoJo Siwa Opens Up About Her Sexuality on Celebrity Big Brother After Mickey Rourke’s Departure
JoJo Siwa has been on a journey of self-discovery, especially when it comes to her identity and sexuality. During the Tuesday, April 22 livestream of Celebrity Big Brother UK, Siwa, 21, got candid about her sexuality in a heartfelt conversation with her costar Danny Beard, a RuPaul’s Drag Race UK alum.
“I feel, like, so queer, do you know what I mean?” JoJo Siwa shared during the episode. “I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian, and I think being here I’ve realized: ‘Oh, I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer.’ And I think that’s really cool.”
Siwa, who came out as LGBTQ in 2021, has formed a close bond with housemate Chris Hughes from Love Island throughout the season of CBB. In an uplifting moment, Siwa emphasized how fluid and liberating sexuality can be: “I’ve dropped the L and I’ve gone to the Q baby!” she exclaimed, referencing her shift from identifying as a lesbian to embracing a more inclusive term of queer.
Beard humorously responded, “You are Q, honey. And you know that British people love a queue!”
JoJo Siwa’s Journey and Embrace of Non-Binary Identity
In addition to exploring her sexual identity, Siwa also reflected on her gender identity earlier in the season. Sitting alongside Hughes, Siwa shared her experiences with gender, noting: “You have female, you have male. I’ve met a lot of females, love them, don’t feel like I’m them. [I’ve] met a lot of males, love them, definitely not them.”
Siwa also shared her affinity for non-binary people, saying, “[I’ve] met a lot of people in my life that are non-binary, and these beautiful, non-binary people are who I feel most like, and it’s — I don’t know — it’s not something that I want to say about myself yet, but it’s something that is confusing.”

Handling Inappropriate Comments and Support from Fans
These personal revelations come after a tense moment on the show with housemate Mickey Rourke, who made inappropriate comments about Siwa’s sexuality. On the April 9 episode, Rourke, 72, claimed, “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” Siwa responded firmly, “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”
Following the incident, Rourke exited the show, claiming that the experience had been “publicly embarrassing” for him. He is now pursuing legal action over alleged pay disputes.
JoJo Siwa’s Loving Relationship with Kate Webbs
Siwa is currently in a loving relationship with influencer Kate Webbs, with the couple going Instagram official in January 2025. In March, Siwa shared her happiness about their connection, describing it as “lovely” and “beautiful.” At the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, Siwa opened up about how the relationship has taught her much about love and respect: “I am so happy. I am in a very mature relationship, and it’s beautiful.”
