Multi-Nation Tensions Rise as China Claims COVID-19 Originated in the United States

Beijing counters Wuhan lab leak theory with accusations against the U.S.

China has released a white paper claiming that the United States may be the true origin of COVID-19. The report, issued by the State Council Information Office, is a direct response to U.S. allegations of a Wuhan lab leak.

The Trump campaign recently revived its claim that the virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). This lab was known for conducting research on coronaviruses. U.S. intelligence agencies like the CIA and FBI have expressed support for this theory.

Multi-Nation Tensions-China Points Finger at the U.S.

In the new report, Chinese officials claim the U.S. is deflecting blame. They say the U.S. government ignored early warnings and politicized the virus’s origin.

“Instead of acknowledging its failed COVID-19 response, the U.S. shifted the blame,” the white paper reads.

The report says a proper virus origin investigation should be held in the U.S., not China. According to Beijing, COVID-19 may have already been spreading in America in 2019, months before the Wuhan outbreak.

Early Evidence? China Thinks So

China cites a CDC study. Of 7,389 blood samples taken between December 2019 and January 2020, 106 tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies. Officials claim this shows the virus existed in the U.S. before the first known U.S. case.

They also referenced a National Institutes of Health (NIH) study. Researchers found COVID-19 antibodies in nine out of 24,000 samples collected across 50 states.

But experts say antibody tests are not always reliable. They can cross-react with other viruses and may give false positives. Antibodies only confirm exposure, not actual infection.

Downplaying the Early Outbreak?

The white paper accuses the U.S. of minimizing COVID-19 risks in early 2020. Officials say American leaders repeatedly compared COVID to the flu. According to China, this delayed global containment.

Beijing says this negligence wasted the time China bought for the world when it first reported the virus. The U.S. allegedly failed to share early data with the World Health Organization (WHO).

“The U.S. should stop using China as a scapegoat,” the report adds.

Multi-Nation Tensions-U.S. Lab Incidents Also Cited

China also points to over 1,500 lab incidents in the U.S. involving dangerous pathogens. These include SARS, MERS, Ebola, and others.

However, most cases were minor. Only 15 people got infected. Just three animals were unintentionally exposed.

The Debate Continues

Despite China’s claims, many scientists believe the virus jumped from animals to humans in a wet market. Wuhan’s Huanan Seafood Market remains a key focus in the search for answers.

China’s report continues to reject the Wuhan lab leak theory, calling it politically motivated.

“The U.S. must answer the world’s questions and stop pretending to be deaf,” it concludes. NOWTREND
