“As a young Inuk, I was inspired by people in my community who were working to make our lives safer, healthier, and more connected. Whether they were in government, leading grassroots initiatives, preserving our language and culture, or simply learning from Elders and helping others—each played a role in our collective wellbeing.

Inuit worldviews are rooted in interconnectedness—between the land, the animals, our families, and ourselves. I was shaped by that perspective. I carry it into my work and hope others see that storytelling isn’t just about performance or recognition. It’s about impact, giving back, showing respect, and building connections that nourish the whole community.”

“As an actress, I have the privilege of visibility—and I try to use that to amplify the voices and stories that matter most to my community. Whether it’s the suicide crisis in the North, the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) movement, or the impact of the foster care system on Indigenous youth, I want my work to reflect truth, resilience, and hope.

One of my favorite projects has been Warrior Up!, a docu-series highlighting Indigenous youth across North America who are leading change in their communities. It’s a reminder that our youth are powerful, creative, and full of solutions.

I also believe in mutual aid—whether you have a big platform or not, supporting locally is a meaningful way to ensure your community thrives. Helping each other, especially in times of crisis, reflects who we are as a people.”

Pushing Indigenous voices forward is essential because it restores our agency and sovereignty over our own narratives. Accurate, meaningful representation isn’t just important—it’s necessary. Who better to tell our stories than us?”
