President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. disagreed with his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, over her remarks on former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest.

Speaking at the PNPA “Sinaglawin” Class of 2025 graduation in Cavite on April 29, Marcos gave a brief but clear statement:

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I disagree.”

This comment came after Imee claimed Duterte’s arrest was part of a political plan. It marks a rare public disagreement between two influential Marcoses.

Disagrees: Marcos Rejects Senator Imee: “This Was a Coordinated Attack”

On April 28, Imee Marcos presented findings that accused the administration of organizing Duterte’s arrest to weaken the Dutertes before 2028.

Pres. Marcos disagrees with Senator Imee’s findings on Duterte arrest

“We’re seeing a pattern. Major political events often happen before ICC-related actions. This looks politically motivated,” she said.

Imee alleged that the arrest was not just a legal move. She described it as a “whole-of-government effort” involving multiple agencies.

“The arrest on March 11 wasn’t random. It was a strategic move to silence a political rival early,” she added.

Duterte’s Arrest and ICC Handover

On March 11, law enforcers arrested former president Duterte. He was immediately flown to the International Criminal Court.

The ICC issued the warrant, while the Philippine government supported the arrest through Interpol. Officials say the move complied with international agreements.

The arrest divided the public. Some viewed it as justice catching up. Others, like Imee, saw it as a political act disguised as legal duty.

What This Means for 2028

This conflict within the Marcos family shows early signs of political friction before the 2028 elections.

While Marcos Jr. supports legal cooperation with global bodies, Imee warns of a dangerous power play. The divide raises questions about future alliances—and how far politics might go to protect or destroy legacies.

This disagreement inside the Marcos family raises bigger questions about future political alliances.

With Duterte allies still holding sway and 2028 just around the corner, the divide between President Marcos and Senator Imee may signal deeper tensions in the administration.

Expect this issue to remain a flashpoint in both the media and political circles as the country inches closer to another crucial election cycle. NOWTREND
