“Misinformation spreads quickly. I was shocked to see claims that Duterte was denied food and medical attention. The ICC ensures detainees receive proper care,” Garin stated.
Questioning Medialdea’s Intentions | Duterte’s medical status
Garin suggested that Medialdea’s statements might be driven by either emotional distress over Duterte’s arrest or an attempt to incite public outrage among his supporters.
“Emotions may be running high, but there’s also the possibility that these statements aim to mislead and fuel anger,” she explained.
She also pointed out that Medialdea, not being an ICC-accredited lawyer, might not fully understand the legal processes surrounding Duterte’s detention. | Duterte’s health condition

Urging the Public to Verify Information
Garin stressed the importance of critical thinking and fact-checking when consuming news, especially on social media. She urged Filipinos to be cautious of misleading claims that might cause unnecessary panic and division.
As of now, Medialdea has not issued an official statement regarding the allegations against him. | Duterte’s health condition
