Three New Monkeypox Infections Reported in Tacurong and Bagumbayan
MAY 23,2025
ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat — Health authorities confirmed three new Mpox (Monkeypox) cases in Sultan Kudarat, raising concerns about regional virus transmission.
Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu said two patients are from Tacurong City and one is from Bagumbayan. All three are recovering at home and are in stable condition.
“Our health teams acted quickly. They informed the patients and placed them under home isolation,” Mangudadatu stated.
Close Contacts in Isolation, Health Teams Tighten Measures
The governor added that people who had direct contact with the patients are now isolating. Local health workers are monitoring them closely for symptoms.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) confirmed that all contacts received instructions and support from their local health units. Each is being observed daily.
“Our frontliners are working round-the-clock,” the IPHO said. “They are tracking contacts, raising awareness, and applying safety protocols to stop the spread.”
Rise in Mpox Cases Across Mindanao Sparks Concern
These new cases in Sultan Kudarat come after 10 confirmed infections in nearby South Cotabato. Health officials in South Cotabato are also watching six more suspected cases.

With cases growing in Mindanao, local governments urge the public to stay cautious. Officials recommend reporting any symptoms early and practicing good hygiene.
Mpox spreads through close contact, especially with people who show rashes or flu-like symptoms. The Department of Health advises regular handwashing, mask-wearing in crowded areas, and early isolation of symptomatic individuals.
Authorities are calling on the public to remain calm but alert as they work to contain the virus and protect communities in Sultan Kudarat and beyond. NOWTREND
