Reddit Faces Another Wave of Outages—Users Report Widespread Issues
2 min read
After experiencing apparent outages yesterday, Reddit is once again facing technical difficulties on Friday evening, leaving thousands of users unable to access the platform.
For those logged in via desktop browsers, the site refuses to load entirely, displaying frustrating error messages instead. Strangely enough, accessing Reddit through an incognito window seems to work, albeit with noticeably slower loading times. Similarly, mobile users on Safari have reported mixed experiences—some are able to browse while logged out, while others regain access only after logging in.
Reddit Confirms the Issue, But No Quick Fix in Sight
Reddit’s status page acknowledged the ongoing problems in a 7:58 PM ET update, stating:
“We’re experiencing an elevated level of errors and are currently looking into the issue.”
Meanwhile, Downdetector, a site that tracks real-time outages, recorded a massive spike in reports, peaking at around 80,000 issues as of this writing. The disruptions first appeared around 7:30 PM ET, rapidly escalating as users flooded social media with complaints.
History Repeats Itself: Reddit’s Ongoing Technical Struggles
This latest wave of outages comes just one day after Reddit reportedly faced “international outages,” according to global internet monitoring group NetBlocks. While many users were affected during that incident, the platform had largely stabilized by the time most reports died down.
Reddit has yet to provide an official statement explaining the root cause of these recurring technical failures. The company also has not responded to requests for comment at this time.
For now, users are left refreshing their feeds and hoping for a swift resolution. If you’re experiencing issues, you’re not alone—Reddit is down once again.
