In a move to support teachers and poll workers in the upcoming 2025 Philippine midterm elections, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved an across-the-board ₱2,000 increase in honoraria, following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“As directed by our beloved President Marcos, finally, our teachers and poll workers will receive a ₱2,000 across-the-board increase in their compensation for the 2025 elections,” Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman announced.

Support Teachers and Poll Workers: New Honoraria Rates for 2025 Elections

Under the newly approved rates:

  • Electoral Board Chairperson will receive ₱12,000 (from the previous ₱10,000)
  • Poll Clerk and Third Member will get ₱11,000 (up from ₱9,000)
  • Support Staff will now earn ₱8,000 (an increase from ₱6,000)

These adjustments aim to fairly compensate election frontliners for their dedication, especially teachers who serve tirelessly at polling precincts.

The General Appropriations Act of 2025 has allocated a ₱7.4 billion budget specifically for poll worker compensation. The Comelec estimates around 758,549 poll workers will be mobilized during the national and local elections.

The Department of Budget and Management says it approved the across the board P2,000 honoraria hike for teachers and poll workers for the 2025 midterm elections.

Speedy Release of Compensation Urged

Secretary Pangandaman encouraged the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure the timely distribution of compensation:

“Our teachers and election workers deserve nothing less. We urge Comelec to release their honoraria quickly and efficiently,” she emphasized.

24/7 Threat Monitoring Center Launched for Honest Elections

In a parallel effort to safeguard the integrity of the elections, President Marcos has also ordered the launch of a 24/7 digital election monitoring center. This “war room” aims to fight online misinformation, fake news, and cyber threats in real-time.

According to Undersecretary Claire Castro of the Presidential Communications Office, the center will function as a real-time digital command post, detecting and neutralizing disinformation that could compromise the credibility of the elections.

The monitoring center, jointly operated by Comelec, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, is based in Quezon City.

Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco confirmed the launch of the center, which is part of a broader push for transparent, honest, and secure 2025 elections. NOWTREND
